Why I told Nick I was engaged...

Telling Nick I was engaged may have been the best decision I've made.  he deserved to hear that even if it was a lie.  Nick hurt me so much.  I thought what we had was more important to him than it really was.  He broke up with me over the phone.  Who does that?!  That is just so disrespectful to me.  He called ME, and broke up with ME over the phone.  That is just unacceptable.  So I had to get him back; I had to get him back good.  I told nick that I was engaged.  If he was going to disrespect me like that, well he had it coming right back to him.  I don't know why I told him I was engaged.  i don't know why that was what I had thought of.  but, it was, and let me tell you it was revenge at its finest.  Nick was absolutely shocked when I told him.  He did not know what to say.  I bet he felt more hurt than I was about him breaking up with me over the phone.  I deserved a conversation from him, in person.  I deserved a face to face explanation.  i did not care that he did not want to be with me any more  It just hurt me that he didn't even have enough respect to tell me to my face that it was over.  It's okay though, because I am Jordan Baker.  I am better than Nick and I can do better than Nick.  I will go find myself another man.  Or better yet, I will be single; because I do not need a man in my life to control me.  I am independent and I will embrace it.

Why I told Nick about Tom's love affair...

I trust Nick.  I know that I have not known him my whole life, or even for a long amount of time, but I know that he is a good person and a good friend.  I thought to myself, Nick is Daisy's cousin.  I feel as though he should know, he is the closest to her.  So, that was it, I decided to tell him.  I would tell him privately, I did not want anyone else knowing.  I also thought, maybe if he knew, we could do something about it.  One person would not be enough to persuade Daisy to leave Tom.  But two, two of the closest people too her, may be affective.  Nick was her cousin, she loved and trusted him, she knew he wanted nothing but the best for her.  I was her best friend in this crazy world we live in.  I trusted her and she trusted me.  I hoped that my opinion meant something to her.  I hated seeing her hurt, and seeing her hurt by her husband was heartbreaking.  I had to do something about it.  Nick may be my b...

What I was thinking when I told Nick to schedule tea with Gatsby and invite Daisy...

When Gatsby approached me at is party, I did not know what to expect; but I knew it was going to be good.  He had asked me if I would ask Nick to host a tea party and invite Daisy and him.  Gatsby knew that Nick would not know why he was asking this, but he insisted I do this for him.  So, that same night, I went up to Nick and told him what Gatsby had requested.  I did not what to expect out of Nick.  I think that Nick looks up to Gatsby and would not want to disappoint, so as I expected, Nick said yes.  He of course had a few questions to ask.  After I explained the whole scenario to him, we parted and I began to think to myself.  I did not understand why Gatsby had waited all this time to try to reconnect with Daisy.  Would Daisy even want to rekindle her love with Gatsby?  She seemed so happy with Tom.  he provided her with all the luxuries in the world.  He gave her the lifestyle she could not have with Gatsby.  They ...
